Hey everyone! Welcome back. Today we’re breaking down an exciting IPL 2025 clash—Delhi Capitals vs Lucknow Super Giants. Let’s dive into how DC bounced back in style and claimed a strong win.
Delhi Capitals got back to winning ways in Match 40 of the TATA IPL 2025 with a solid eight-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants. After a tough loss to Gujarat Titans in their previous match, DC came back strong, first with the ball and then with the bat to grab their sixth win of the season and hold on to the second spot on the points table.
DC’s captain Axar Patel won the toss and chose to bowl first. LSG started well, with Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh scoring quickly. They reached 51 runs without losing a wicket in the first six overs. Markram kept his good form going, scoring 52 off 33 balls before getting caught out. At the halfway mark, LSG were in a good position at 87/1.
Nicholas Pooran came in and looked dangerous, hitting two boundaries right away. But Mitchell Starc got the better of him, dismissing Pooran as he played the ball onto his own stumps. Then Mukesh Kumar stepped up and changed the game, taking two wickets in one over getting Abdul Samad and Marsh out. LSG went from cruising to struggling at 110/4 in 14 overs.
Ayush Badoni added a quick 36 from 21 balls to help LSG finish with 159/6 after 20 overs. Mukesh Kumar ended with fantastic bowling figures of 4 wickets for 33 runs.
In reply, DC started their chase confidently. Abishek Porel played a solid innings, scoring 51 off 36 balls, while Karun Nair hit a quick 15 before getting out. Porel and KL Rahul built a strong partnership, reaching 54/1 at the end of the powerplay.
Even though LSG tried to slow them down, DC stayed in control. Porel got his first half-century of the season, and Rahul, playing against his former team, looked calm and in charge. After Porel got out, Axar Patel came in and smashed four sixes in his quick 34 not out off just 20 balls.
KL Rahul finished the job in style with a six, ending unbeaten on 57 from 42 balls, as DC chased down the target in just 17.5 overs with 13 balls to spare.
What a game! DC looked sharp with both bat and ball, and Mukesh Kumar’s 4-wicket haul really set the tone. KL Rahul showed his class again, and that finish with a six, just perfect!
