KKR Falls Short by 4 Runs Against LSG in a Thrilling Chase
CRICKETNEWS

Let’s dive into the action from yesterday's IPL match at Eden Gardens, where Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) fought hard but fell just four runs short while chasing a huge target of 239 runs set by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). This was KKR's third loss in five matches, while LSG, with their third win, moved into the top four.
Pooran’s Incredible Knock
Nicholas Pooran continued his amazing form for LSG, finishing unbeaten on 87 runs off just 36 balls. His knock included 7 fours and 8 massive sixes, which helped LSG post a daunting total of 238/3 in 20 overs. KKR bowlers, especially on a flat pitch, had a tough time containing him. Harshit Rana took two wickets, and Andre Russell grabbed one, but it wasn’t enough.
KKR’s Strong Fightback
KKR started their chase with a bang! Sunil Narine, finally finding his form, smashed 30 runs off just 13 balls. Then, captain Ajinkya Rahane played a brilliant knock, scoring 61 runs off 35 balls, including 8 fours and 2 sixes. Venkatesh Iyer followed up with a solid 45 off 29 balls. Rinku Singh, coming in late at number 8, hit an explosive 38* off 15 balls. But it wasn’t enough as KKR fell short in the end.
Bowling Performance
Akash Deep and Shardul Thakur both picked up two wickets each, though they were a bit expensive. Varun Chakravarthy and Digvesh Rathi, both mystery spinners, were the most economical bowlers in the match.
What's Next?
KKR, now placed sixth, will next face Chennai Super Kings in Chennai on April 11. Meanwhile, LSG will take on Gujarat Titans in Lucknow on April 12.
