Punjab Kings (PBKS) made history on Tuesday by defending the lowest total ever in IPL history during a 20-over match. They defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 16 runs at Mullanpur in a thrilling contest.
After being asked to bat first, PBKS were bowled out for just 111 runs. KKR’s Harshit Rana took 3 wickets for 25 runs, while Varun Chakaravarthy and Sunil Narine picked up 2 wickets each. Despite a strong start by PBKS openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya, who added 39 runs in just 3.1 overs, the team quickly lost momentum after Harshit Rana’s double-wicket over.
KKR looked comfortable in their chase, reaching 62 for 2 at one point. But PBKS spinner Yuzvendra Chahal changed the game completely with an outstanding performance, taking 4 wickets for 28 runs. Marco Jansen also played a key role with figures of 3 for 17. KKR’s batting collapsed, and they were bowled out for only 95 runs.
This shocking turnaround gave PBKS a memorable 16-run victory and a place in the IPL record books.
